The Turcios Family

Meet Dr. Kendall Turcios from Miami, Florida. Since the age of 8, Kendall knew he wanted to be in ministry. There wasn’t any dramatic moment when he knew this, but rather a calm conviction that he was born to help people in this way.

One of Kendall’s favorite things about being a pastor is when someone turns their life over to God. “They hear the gospel, then they understand the gospel and then they surrender to the gospel…its amazing,” He fondly speaks of a text message he received from an airline pilot who sought his assistance because he was “full of fear, anxiety and doubt.” A few weeks after they read and studied the Bible together, the pilot texted to say that for the first time in years, he slept peacefully because he was no longer afraid.

Kendall met his wife, Alexandra, when he was 13-14 years old. At 15 he moved to Sydney, Australia and did not see her again until he came back, some 5 years later. A year later, they were engaged, and in another year they were married. They have 2 children, Daniel and Isabela.

Since Kendall graduated with his doctorate in 1997, he diligently saved money in a 401k, shooting for the 1million in retirement that everybody talks about. A decade went by, and the crash of 2008 came, wiping away 80-85% of the money in his retirement account. “I remember thinking to myself, ‘This is nuts. 10-11 years of diligence and hard work and then all of the sudden its like somebody took a dry eraser and erased it,’” he recalls.

Kendall felt deeply responsible. Here he was in charge of their finances; Alexandra had entrusted her future to him. Sure they talked about things, but he was ultimately the one guiding them. He felt like he had let her down…he didn’t know what to do.

That’s when a friend, who had also been affected by the crash, told Kendall about his friend, Tom McFie, who was teaching about The Perpetual Wealth Code and using Participating Whole Life Insurance as a tool to maximize wealth. Kendall began checking it out. He trusted his friend and knew if his friend trusted Tom, then so could he.

“At first it didn’t click or make sense, but I remember thinking, ‘You don’t understand this completely, but whatever you do, you need to take action.’ People smarter than I were using it and finding success in it. … it was guaranteed, it was reliable.” So after talking to Tom several times, Kendall decided to take action…what he considered massive action. And he bought two policies.

As cash value began to accumulate in his policy, the first thing Kendall started doing was eliminating his student loans through policy loans. “As soon as I paid off loans to the government, I owed it to the policy. I’m choosing to repay it because I want to keep this self-financing tool going…but I don’t have to repay it by any set time. Worse case scenario, if something were to happen to me tomorrow, part of the death benefit will cancel that debt.”

Kendall has also used their policies to buy himself a 2012 Honda Accord. “I’ve NEVER had that nice of a car,” Kendall laughs. “Some people are like, ‘thats so NOT a car’ but for me that’s amazing.” Keep in mind, he’s the guy that drove a car until it had 350,000 miles on it…that’s almost 100,000 miles more than the distance between the earth and the moon! And he bought a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder for Alexandra. “You think I’m excited about a 2012 Honda Accord?” Kendall exclaims, “Can you imagine an SUV with 8,000 miles on it? I’ve never had a car with 8,000 miles. What is that?!”

The Turcios’ financial picture is very different now than what it was after the crash of 2008. Kendall had told himself, “There goes the idea of saving for retirement.” That million he had been shooting for? He thought, “Not going to happen!” But with their two policies Kendall figures they will have well over 1 million by the time they reach retirement.

“The most important thing that people can do is to get started right away. Successful people, from what I’ve understood and read, are people of action,” And Kendall ought to know! In 2014, Kendall took the McFie Family InsuranceMentorship Training and joined the McFie Family InsuranceTeam. As a licensed agent he works through McFie Family Insurance, teaching people how to implement the Perpetual Wealth Code and designing participating whole life insurance policies that will serve people with the same honesty and integrity that he himself has experienced. Kendall adds, “Tom is one of the most honest people I know. It’s so hard to find people of integrity…that’s the kind of people that I like to have in my life.”

Kendall’s family enjoy going on mission trips. One of these trips was to a remote village in the Northern Philippines where they spent a week providing medical services and spiritual help. “Its very fulfilling to be able to do stuff like that,” Kendall says.

Kendall, Alexandra, Daniel and Isabela, are all certified divers, and enjoy scuba diving. They also love traveling to new places: enjoying beauty, nature, meeting people and collecting experiences.
